Historic RedStone Theater

1930 – 2026 · Nearly a Century of Stories, Songs & Silver Screens in Kanab, Utah

Nestled in the heart of downtown Kanab, the Historic RedStone Theater has been the cultural heartbeat of southern Utah for nearly 100 years. Opened in 1930, this beautifully preserved 300-seat venue has welcomed generations of audiences for live concerts, classic and contemporary films, comedy nights, theatrical productions, and community gatherings — all just minutes from Zion, Bryce Canyon, and the Grand Canyon’s North Rim.

A Piece of Hollywood History

Kanab earned the nickname “Little Hollywood” for good reason. From the 1930s through the 1970s, more than 100 Western films and TV shows were shot in the red-rock canyons just outside town — and the stars came right through our doors. Hollywood legends including John Wayne, Clark Gable, the Rat Pack (Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr.), Ronald Reagan, Maureen O’Hara, and many others spent evenings at the RedStone Theater between days on set. The hotel rooms above the theater — once their home away from home — have now been beautifully restored as The Kanab Lodge, where today’s travelers can sleep in the same building that hosted Hollywood royalty.

From early silver-screen Westerns to today’s touring tribute acts and indie film festivals, the RedStone has remained a beloved gathering place where visitors and locals come together to share unforgettable experiences. Every brick, every seat, and every spotlight carries a story — and we’re proud to keep adding new chapters.

Our Mission

To preserve and celebrate the legacy of the Historic RedStone Theater while presenting world-class live performances, film screenings, and community events that bring people together in Kanab and the surrounding region. We believe a small-town theater can deliver big-city entertainment — and we’re committed to making the arts accessible, memorable, and rooted in the spirit of Kanab.
